Students in Lena Shiao’s ECE 152 class have been readily engaged in creating Family Fun Packs for children to take home to their families. These packs will be donated to local child care centers, then sent home via a library system to preschool children and their families. Each pack contains a developmentally appropriate preschool book, along with a game or activity based on the theme of the story created by the MCC student. In addition, two journals are included, one for the child and one for the family member. The purpose of the journals is to record in pictures and words feedback from the family in regards to how they enjoyed the activity. Congratulations to Professor Shiao and her students for promoting literacy beyond the classroom!
