The Honors Institute Needs Your Help

In an attempt to identify outstanding students who might profit from and enjoy an Honors course or seminar, I am asking you to send me the names and M-numbers of your best students. Once we have the names of these students, we’ll mail them descriptions of the Spring 2011 Honors courses and invite them to apply.

Last semester we had over 200 outstanding students recommended by faculty across the college, and we hope you will help us maintain this success by taking a few moments to share with us the names of your brightest and most talented students. In addition to good grades, curiosity, motivation, and hard-working attitudes are characteristics of students who are successful in Honors. Please keep in mind that all Honors courses are Writing Intensive, and can be quite demanding for under-prepared students and students that have not developed good study and work habits. Typically about 2-3% of our student body are invited to take an Honors course.

Please email me <"mailto:pdalessandris@monroecc.edu"> the names and M-numbers of your best students as soon as possible. Students are much more likely to take an Honors course if they receive the invitation before they register for next semester’s courses, and priority registration begins Monday, October 18.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call (x2490) or email
