Diversity in Policing: Police and the GLBT Community

The Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton Campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Wednesday, October 25, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Jim Hall, the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered) Liaison in the Rochester Police Department, will lecture on “Diversity in Policing: Police and the GLBT Community.” The lecture will be held on the fourth floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Officer Hall, a police officer for 17 years, has served as the GLBT Liaison in the Rochester Police Department for the past five years, where he is openly gay and out. His duties are to assist members of the GLBT community with issues with the police, follow up on hate crimes and other GLBT incidents, provide diversity training about GLBT issues in police work for the police academy, and make presentations to community groups about his position, in addition to being assigned to the 7:00 pm to 3:00 am patrol in the West Division. He also collaborates with the coordinator of the Anti-Violence Program of the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley. Please join us for what promises to be a very informative presentation.
