Tribute to Janet Glocker: Celebrating a Legacy of Leadership

On April 26, a special luncheon program—Planting Seeds: Past, Present, Future—was held at Reflections as a surprise tribute to Dr. Janet Glocker. Janet’s history of supporting leadership development and mentorship for women at MCC included her involvement with the National Institute for Leadership Development (NILD—now Leaders), Kaleidoscope and the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC). Thirty-six women graduates of NILD and Kaleidoscope, and leaders from AAWCC, participated in the event with special guests, Dr. Anne Kress, Dr. Alice H. Young, Dr. Susan Salvador and Diane Shoger.

Janet’s gifts included a special gardening book—signed by all of the attendees—new gardening tools and accessories, packets of seeds, some special packets of “Forget-me-not” seeds, and a monetary contribution in Janet’s name to the MCC Foundation. The celebration concluded with gracious remarks from Janet and cheers and applause for her “Legacy of Leadership.”

Special thanks to MCC’s Hospitality students and to Michelle Bartell, to NILD graduate Diane Cheasty, and to Drew Lawrence, for a spectacular luncheon buffet.
