The Tassel is Worth the Hassle

Please join Phi Theta Kappa as we celebrate Completion Day!  The event will be held Wednesday, November 4th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Flynn Campus Center Atrium. We are asking students to sign pledges committing to completion of their MCC degree. My College of Choice (MCC) t-shirts will be given away along with other fun prizes. Why is it important to obtain your degree?  Consider the following:

1.       A person with an associate degree will earn $500,000 more in their lifetime than someone with no credential.

2.      Eighty-five percent of students enrolled in community colleges express aspirations to complete an associates or baccalaureate degree, but only 45% complete a higher education credential.  Only 50% of community college students upon enrollment express aspirations to complete a baccalaureate degree.

3.      By 2018, 67% of all new jobs will require a higher education credential.

4.      If a student has to enter the workforce unexpectedly due to life changes, if they hold an associate degree they are more frequently placed than persons without a degree.

5.      If someone transfers from the community college without completing a degree, they are much less likely to complete a baccalaureate degree.
