I am saddened to inform you of the passing of Gail C. Zink on August 31, 2011. Gail began her career at the college in October 1982 as a Clerk III in the Research Office. Known for her computer skills, she also served as secretary to the Assistant Vice President and Manager of Research Services and helped maintain college budget records. In 1993, she was promoted to Secretary II in the Transfer, Placement and Financial Aid Office and soon was promoted to Secretary I. Gail was known for being a happy person who was always thinking about others. In July 1997, she received a Support Staff Award for her creativity, energy, and service to students, alumni, and faculty. She served as an excellent liaison to the employers and four-year college representatives who frequented the Transfer and Placement Office. Her award nomination noted that Gail was a “superwomen because of the cross-section of groups and individuals she serves with a truly professional attitude. She gets the job done!”

Prior to MCC Gail taught English and social studies for a variety of schools in the Rochester area and in Montgomery County, Maryland. She took a variety of courses at MCC and Nazareth College and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English with minors in history and education from Michigan State University.

Gail was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Slattery, and brothers Tom and Joe Conolly. She is survived by husband, Thomas; children, Jack and Katie; grandsons, Quinton Warren and Blaze Miller; and several nephews and nieces, including Janet Dalke of MCC’s Health and Physical Education Department.
