Sperrs, State Police Continue Support of Memorial Scholarship

On September 30, Andy and Jean Sperr were warmly welcomed back to the Damon City Campus along with representatives of the New York State Police. The group presented $3,000 to MCC Foundation Executive Director Diane Shoger in support of the Andrew “AJ” Sperr Endowed Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship was established in 2006 to honor fallen State Trooper AJ Sperr, son of Andy and Jean Sperr, an alumnus of MCC’s Law and Criminal Justice Program, and a member of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame. The scholarship inspires criminal justice students to earn their degree at MCC. This is the fourth year that Troop E of the New York State Police has raised money through an annual golf tournament to benefit students at MCC, Aquinas Institute of Rochester and the St. Lawrence School in Greece—schools AJ Sperr attended.

If you are interested in supporting student success through the MCC Annual Fund or a specific scholarship fund, please contact the MCC Foundation at "
