Killing Us Softly 4 to Kick-Off Sociology Film Series!

The Sociology Film Series will kick-off this academic year with Jean Kilbourne’s documentary Killing Us Softly 4: Advertising’s Image of Women.  In this 2010 update to her series that began in 1979, Kilbourne “challenges the viewer to take advertising seriously and to think critically about popular culture and its relationship to sexism, eating disorders and gender violence.”

The Brighton Campus event will take place on Tuesday, October 12th from 6:00-8:00pm in Room 5-200.

The Damon City Campus event will take place on Wednesday, October 13th from 4:00-6:00pm in Room 4151.

Discussions following the film will be lead by Sociology Faculty. Both events are free and open to the public.  They are sponsored by the Department of Anthropology/History/Political Science/Sociology, the Office of the Dean of Liberal Arts, the DCC Campus Center and S.E.G.A.
