Wrapping "IT" Up for the Holidays!

ETS has put together some recommendations for managing your technology systems during the time the College is closed for the holiday break.

SYSTEM STATUS:
If you are working from home and you need to know the status of any particular system, you can click the following link https://www.monroecc.edu/go/status and find out its availability.  ETS will keep this web site up-to-date when we take down any system for maintenance over the holiday break.

VOICEMAIL:
-- Record an “out of office” greeting advising callers that the College is closed and when your office will reopen.   This will block callers from leaving a voicemail message.
-- If there is a need for your mailbox to receive messages while using this feature over the break, you must make arrangements with Communications and Network Services (CNS) prior to December 24.  Help Desk - Ext. 4357, Option 1.

Instructions for recording an “out of office” greeting:
1.      Access your mailbox
2.      Press 4 for Greeting
3.      Press 7 to record an “out of office” greeting
4.      When you return, access your mailbox and the system will prompt you to turn your “out of office” greeting off.  Your regular greeting will begin to play.

PC and MONITOR:
Turn off your PC and Monitor
Remove Disks/CDs/DVDs

OUTLOOK/EMAIL:
-- Please set the “Out of Office” Assistant if you will be out for an extended time over the holidays.
-- Try your best to clean your email box of non-essential mail.  ETS will be upgrading the email servers and this will save migration time.

PRINTERS/COPIERS/FAX MACHINES:
Please turn printers/copiers and fax machines off.

PDAs:
-- PDA owners should plan to take their PDAs home.  Remember to also take home the PDA power adapter and/or the cradle if the PDA does not have a separate cable for the power.

LEARNING CENTERS and CLASSROOMS"
-- Learning Centers will be closed and classroom technology will be undergoing maintenance during the period of 12/25/08-1/1/09.

Don’t forget you can call the Help Desk (4357) option 1, with any questions through December 24 and starting again on January 2.  The Help Desk will be closed 12/25/08-1/1/09.

Happy Holidays to all from ETS!
