Project LIVE: Learning in a Virtual Environment (Second Life)

What we have learned so far and where to go from here…

Date: November 30th, 2007

Location: Monroe A/B, Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center

The SUNY Live Project began over six months ago with 50+ participants from 20+ SUNY institutions and many participants have been actively exploring Second Life since then. This event will bring this group of pioneers back together in the real world to share, learn and determine where to go now. You did not have to attend the first event in order join us for the exciting day. We hope to meet many new friends excited about the potential that Second Life has to offer.

We are pleased to announce the keynote speaker for this event will be Beth Ritter-Guth, Lehigh Valley CC, better known in Second Life as Desideria Stockton, matriarch of “HYPERLINK "https://literaturealive.blogspot.com/"Literature Alive! in Second Life , an academic project in HYPERLINK "https://secondlife.com/"Second Life aimed at collecting and distributing resources for the development of literary projects of collegiate worth in SL”. Student in her class will join us as well to talk about their experiences in Second Life.

The agenda will also include a panel of SUNY participants who will discuss their projects and birds of a feather session on topics such as pedagogy, island purchase and management, support, libraries and more.

Sponsored by the SUNY Faculty Access to Computing Technology (FACT) Conversations on Computing in the Disciplines (COCID) program funded through the Office of the Provost.

This event is also supported by MCC, FLCC and the Finger Lakes Distance Learning Partnership.
