Announcing the 10th Annual Model United Nations Program and Class

The Office of Student Life and Leadership Development and the Anthropology/History/Political Science & Sociology Department are proud to announce the 10th Annual Model United Nations program and class.  This is an excellent opportunity for MCC students to experience a creative way of learning, and to participate in one of the largest nationally-known collegiate conferences in the Northeast with over 4,000 students from all over the world.

The purpose of the Model UN program at MCC is to provide an interactive educational experience that instructs in an interesting and enjoyable way about the United Nations. The process affords participants an understanding of how the process of international debate and negotiation (commonly called “diplomacy”) functions. The simulations of the diplomatic processes are especially important when the world has become more interdependent.  The Model UN helps students become informed global citizens who not only understand the decisions their nation makes but also how those changes affect politics nationally, regionally, and globally. We are looking for students who want to make a difference in the world, and have a desire to enhance their personal growth.

Model UN is not just a program for students enrolled in International Affairs or Political Science courses. The broad nature of the skills learned cut across nearly all majors, and it is valuable for any student who has an interest in the functions of international negotiation and policy making.

If you as an instructor or a staff member know of any student who may benefit from this program, please encourage him/her to apply.  Brochures and applications are available in the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development, 3-126.  Students can also apply on-line at
