Kids and Dogs: Therapy Dogs at the Mary Cariola Children's Center

The Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton Campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Wednesday, February 9, 12:00 -1:00 p.m.., featuring Paul Scott and Christine Sheffer of the Mary Cariola Children’s Center speaking on “Kids and Dogs: Therapy Dogs at the Mary Cariola Children’s Center.” The lecture will be located on the 4th floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Paul Scott is President and Christine Sheffer is Education and Training Director at Mary Cariola, a private, nonprofit agency that provides education, residential programs, and other services for children with developmental delays, especially for those with complex or multiple disabilities. Both have experience with therapy dogs, and they will be accompanied by Trixie, one of the staff dogs, during their visit to MCC. Trixie works her magic every day helping to encourage reluctant children to walk, reinforces positive behavior, stimulates touch and simply acts as a loyal friend.

Please join us for what promises to be a very special event. If you have any questions, please contact Lori Annesi, Reference/Special Collections Librarian ("mailto:lannesi@monroecc.edu").
