A panel of media experts will respond to community concerns regarding the media's current obligation in a democracy in a forum at St. John Fisher College on April 17.
The panel includes: Michael G. Kane, President and Publisher of the Democrat and Chronicle;Ray Sullivan, Executive Producer News 10 NBC; Maureen McGuire, News Anchor, Channel 8; and Bob Smith, radio talk show host, WXXI-AM-FM-TV,
MCC Professor of Communication Tom Proietti will act as moderator.
Some of the topics to be covered include the obligation of journalists under the First Amendment; the relationship between the government and the press; and the influence on media by big business.
The event is open to the public and will be held at St. John Fisher College on April 17 at 7 p.m., in Basil Hall Auditorium, B-135. The event is co-sponsored by Monroe Community College and St. John Fisher College.
