Gov. Hochul Visits Downtown Campus to Announce Proposed Funding for Region

Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday visited MCC's Downtown Campus to outline $172.5 million in new state investment for several transformative projects in the Finger Lakes region, including in High Falls and downtown Rochester, be funded by her $216 billion budget proposal for fiscal year 2023. Details of the projects and her funding proposal can be found on MCC's website.

Her announcement also unveiled her funding plan for other initiatives, including the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). She said she will commit $150 million that would expand access to TAP for part-time students.

"The people who need the money and the ones who need the work go to school part-time because they're trying to earn money for this semester to pay for the next semester," Gov. Hochul said. "So, let's just make it easier on everyone to have access to a great education at places like MCC and allow part-time students to have eligibility for tuition assistance."
