MCC's Future Plans in the Fight Against Spam

ETS is committed to reducing spam and will rise to the challenge to do
so! Some of the tools we will employ are:

A review of methods to mask e-mail addresses from automated hacking
devices or spambots. ETS is currently looking into an automated process
where your e-mail address will be converted into several graphics, thus
becoming undetectable by spambot searches.

ETS will continue to upgrade all employee computers with Microsoft
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Office 2003. Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003 includes features designed to help block much of the spam
that you receive. These features give you more control over the kinds of
messages delivered to your Inbox. Currently we have upgraded over 400
office computers with the Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003. ETS plans to
have all college computers upgraded by June 2005. If you have been
upgraded and you would like to know more about the spam blocking and
filtering features, you can call the ETS: Help Line x4357, option 1. If
you would like to schedule your computer to receive the software
upgrades you can contact Millie Lewis at x 2610 or email
"mailto:Mlewis@monroecc.edu" Mlewis@monroecc.edu

ETS has researched numerous anti-spam blocking and filtering solutions.
ETS has secured funding to purchase an anti-spam solution in the
upcoming fiscal year. This solution will add another layer of
protection by evaluating the incoming e-mails, detecting phishing fraud
and other types of spam e-mail threats from reaching your inbox.

So, there you have it - ETS remains in the fight against spam and we
will survive, as will you!
