Passing of Joe Carr, Facilities

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Joseph D. Carr, a stationary engineer in our Facilities Department. Joe was the driver of a vehicle involved in a tragic three-car accident Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 590 in Rochester.

Joe was known around the College for his dedication and concern for the proper operation of our facilities. In his most recent work capacity, he ran the heating and cooling plants at the Brighton Campus.

A 1974 graduate of Brighton High School and father of two boys, Joe had been a part of the MCC family since he graduated from the college with an associate in liberal arts in 1976. He first served as a student aide, then was hired full time as a heavy laborer in September of that year. After nine years, Joe resigned to take a job as an assistant stationary engineer with Monroe County at the Iola Powerhouse. Just three years later, in August of 1988, he came back to our Facilities Department, where he remained for the next 19 years.

Funeral arrangements are not yet available. We will let you know just as soon as we get information.
