CSTEP Student Participates in Brookhaven National Lab Mini Semester Program

CSTEP student, Elizabeth Randolph (HS03), was selected to participate in the Brookhaven National Lab (BNL) Mini Semester Program held remotely from January 4 to 8, 2021. This one-week program provides students access to BNL to become part of a scientific research team. Many students return to Brookhaven Lab as part of the Community College Institute (CCI) or Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) programs.  BNL researchers and technicians facilitate the activities.
Program Overview
•    Participation in classroom instruction and hands-on lab work
•    Completion of an internet assignment
•    Interaction with Brookhaven Lab scientists and staff
•    Virtual visits of research facilities

Kudos to Elizabeth Randolph for completing the BNL Mini-Semester Program!

CSTEP is funded by the New York State Education Department through a legislative grant.  Its mission is to increase the numbers of students who are historically underrepresented or economically disadvantaged, to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), licensed, or health professions.  MCC CSTEP is one of the pioneer programs that has received continual funding since 1987.
