Colleen Brennan-Barry, Web communications manager (College & Community Relations), recently presented at both the 2012 Penn State Web and the 2012 SUNY-CUAD conferences. Her presentation, “Game On! How Games are Changing Life, the Web & Everything,” looked at the history and integration of games in American culture, the elements of modern game mechanics and theory, and how these tools are being used – and might be used in the future – via gamification to achieve real-life success and meet institutional goals. Colleen also hopes to share this presentation with the MCC community in the near future as a brown bag session; date and time will be posted here in the Daily Tribune.
Colleen sits on the Board of Directors of the Higher Education Web Professionals Association, serves as vice-chair of the HighEdWeb membership committee and is a member of the HighEdWeb annual conference committee as marketing, communications and attendee relations chair.
