Massage Therapy Clinic Appointments Offered this Week

In lieu of gift certificates this year, MCC’s Massage Therapy Clinic is offering fellow faculty and staff the opportunity to make up to six (6) appointments for the Spring 2004 semester before the public opening of the clinic on Jan. 27. To take advantage of this opportunity, please call 292-2838 on the following TWO DAYS ONLY during the times specified: Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. or Thursday, Dec. 18 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Appointments may be scheduled for the following days and times from Jan. 27 through May 21 (please have your preferred days and times selected when you call):

* Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursdays: 9:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.;
* Thursday evenings: 6:00 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.;

* Saturdays: 9:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 3:30 p.m.

Please note, if you do not call on Dec. 17 or 18, you will be unable to schedule an appointment at the clinic until Jan. 26. Patrons will receive a 55-minute massage therapy session from a soon-to-graduate student in the MCC Massage Therapy AAS degree program for $20 per session ($10 for students with college identification).

The clinic is located at MCC’s Damon City Campus and is closed Sundays and Mondays. All sessions are professionally supervised. Students receive a minimum of 18 months of training prior to working in the clinic, and must complete 150 hours of hands-on experience in order to receive their degree and apply for their professional license.

Patrons can benefit from a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, traditional Western, and Oriental Shiatsu. In addition to relieving muscle tension and pain, massage therapy can improve one’s ability to cope with stress, enhance sleep and increase energy levels.
