Wellness Wednesday: What have you done for YOU lately?

Let us face it, working from home isn't what we thought it would be when most of us left campus in March. You might be surprised that being away from the "office" makes you feel MORE stressed, tired, and emotionally worn out at the end of the "workday". Do you find that you miss your desktop computer? Dual monitors? Seeing your colleagues and conducting business in those hallway conversations? Us too- and it is completely understandable! You are working full time from your kitchen table, you have new coworkers: human and animal, some of you are now teaching K-12, and we are all worrying about our family members. On top of it all, our usual stress relievers: the gym, social gatherings, attending sporting events, going to the movies, etc. are all no longer an option. WE know how you feel, and it is time to give ourselves a break, do something for YOU!

  • Zoom meetings are exhausting! Make time to get up and away from that laptop and take a walk outside- spring is here, stop and smell the flowers!
  • The gyms are closed, but the zoom room is open! Join Kim Nixon for Work it Weekdays - Home Edition Friday's at 1 PM.
  • This is stressful! Join Donna Burke for Guided Meditation Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Noon.
  • The Kitchen and pantry are now steps away from the office- try one of our Tasty Tuesday healthy recipes located in the attached calendar to keep your body and mind strong.
  • Do not work 24/7! Check out our Family Friday activities in the attached calendar.
  • If all else fails, make time to laugh with this video shared by Jody Torcello (Curriculum and Program Development) of Magnus the Therapy Dog and his owners workout.

Okay so you hear what we are saying, but nothing above appeals to you- check out the many resources the MCC Wellness Council has put together for YOU by reviewing our LibGuide at (http://libguides.monroecc.edu/wellness), print off the attached monthly wellness calendar and hang it up in the home office so you have something new to try every day of the week- encourage your new coworkers to check it out too, and if you are someone who has found that you LOVE working from home- share your tips and tricks with us by joining the MCC Wellness Council Facebook group.

Above all else, we must take care of ourselves, recognizing this time apart is not easy, but together we will get through! Tune in next week for our next edition of Wellness Wednesday- until then #BeWellMCC.
