From Bed to Front Door in 13 Minutes

Last week I overslept. My husband, who considers sleep a sacred state of being, didn’t wake me. I was able to get out of bed and to the front door to leave for work in 13 minutes. I’m quite proud of that and, since I have no other forum in which to brag about this achievement, I am including it in the article about final exams.  Just so everyone knows I can do this. Now to the less impressive stuff.

I sent in the request to have the Final Exam Request Form activated for spring 2013. You will find it on the Faculty Services menu in Banner Self Service under, “Schedule a Final Exam”, catchy but not terribly creative.  Unless your exam is a departmental exam—same exam given for every section of the same subject/course--you must submit your request(s) electronically no later than Friday, February 1, 2013. This is a hair pulling and tearful process for me so please submit your requests on time.  There are a series of reports and files that are set up based on the survey information and requests coming in after those files are set up require a lot of manual manipulation to get them scheduled.  The “Schedule a Final Exam” online form will close at the end of the work day on February 1 so those files can be created.

My goal is to have the final exam schedule ‘up’ by March 29th.

A reminder:

Evening exams are not scheduled. Please do not enter them on the survey. If you teach in the evening and want to give an exam, you use your same class meeting time and location for the final. If you need to give a final that lasts longer than your scheduled class time, you need to work with me to find a different room. If someone teaches in the time slot after your class we have to assume they too are giving a final and need the room.

Thank you!
