Paula Vogel Visit Spring 2012

The Sixth Act, in conjunction with Creative Arts, is pleased to announce that playwright Paula Vogel will be visiting MCC on March 1st.  Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and she earned an Obie Award for The Baltimore Waltz.  Other Vogel plays include Hot N Throbbing, Desdemona, The Mineola Twins, The Long Christmas Ride Home, And Baby Makes Seven, and The Oldest Profession.  Vogel has taught at Cornell, Brown, and is currently Eugene O'Neill Professor of Playwriting and Chair of the Playwriting Department at the Yale School of Drama.  At 7:00pm on March 1st, Vogel will be speaking at the MCC Theater; a book signing will follow.  This event is free and open to the public.  For the MCC community, Vogel will be running a playwriting workshop in the Black Box Theater at noon on March 2nd.   We invite all interested to attend, and we encourage faculty to integrate these events into course curriculum.  For more information, contact me, Thomas Blake ("mailto: tblake@monroecc.edu") or Jeffery Jones ("mailto: jjones@monroecc.edu") for a packet on Paula Vogel’s work.  In addition, The Sixth Act will be hosting “lead-up” events early next semester, so keep your eyes peeled.

We hope to see you there!
