Course Accessibility and Increased Learning

Learn about practical applications of Universal Design to increase learning for ALL students. Lectures, exams, group work, course information sheets, assignments—you can make just about any course more accessible on all levels starting with five basic principles.  On July 31 at 1 pm the TCC is hosting an online seminar on the Damon City Campus in room 5-270. Because the seminar occurs when the teaching faculty are not on contract, the program will be available for use by individuals or groups during the academic year as well. After participating in the seminar you will be able to:

Evaluate courses to identify potential barriers to student learning
Identify assumptions that could be barriers to learning
Determine what kind of learners might be challenged by those assumptions
Recognize three or four simple changes to make your courses more accessible
Understand how to implement those changes for immediate improvement

If you are interested in attending the event on July 31 or gaining access to it after the event, please send email to Julie Damerell, chair of the Damon TCC: <"mailto:jdamerell@monroecc.edu">.  This event and the campus license that enables anyone with campus email to use this in the future is made possible by Dr. McKinsey-Mabry, Dean of Academic Affairs at DCC.
