Wireless Security - Wire-Free Does Not Always Mean Risk-Free Webcast


MCC will host the Homeland Security Webcast entitled "Wireless Security - Wire-Free Does Not Always Mean Risk-Free " to be held on Wednesday, July 20 from 3:00-4:00 in 7-333. 

Webcast summary - Today there are a variety of wireless devices on the market including wireless Internet, cell phones, pagers, wireless computers, PDA’s, and more. Understanding wireless security and how to protect yourself, your computer and your devices is the first step in creating a secured environment for your home, school or business. Computer users must be knowledgeable about wireless and the potential security risks and vulnerabilities, including computer worms and viruses, online fraud, cyber attacks that can shut down businesses, compromised integrity and privacy of vital data and damaged reputation and image.  The webcast applies to all computer users – whether you are using your wireless-enabled laptop at the local coffee house or running a network that hosts sensitive customer data, you need to understand the issues and how to use wireless technology safely. Attendees will have a better understanding of the diversity of wireless devices that are used today, the security that can be applied behind the wireless network, and solutions of how you can be more secure. The presenters are Jean-Paul Boucher, Director of Wireless Integration Services, SRA International, Inc. and Bob Gaughan, Global Enterprise Security Solutions Marketing, Nortel.
