Britton highlights 2009 MCC Sports Hall of Fame class

Former MCC women’s soccer head coach Tracey Britton is one of four people who will be inducted into the Monroe Community College Sports Hall of Fame.

Britton will be joined by former MCC golfer Joe Kunz, baseball player David Brust, and three-sport athlete Josh Gleason.  The banquet will be held Wednesday evening, April 29 at the college’s Brighton Campus.

The Tribunes won three national championships under Britton, who compiled an outstanding 171-12-9 record in nine years.  She was a three-time NSCAA National Coach of the Year, won nine Region III titles, and coached more than 20 All-Americans.

Kunz (Class of 2002) was a two-time All-American and was the 2002 NJCAA Division III national champion.  He won 10 individual tournament titles at MCC and was an All-Conference golfer at Binghamton University.

Brust (Class of 1987) played one year at Monroe, batting .423 with 10 home runs.  He was a third team All-American and spent four years in the Atlanta Braves system.  Brust is currently an MCC assistant and is also the head coach of the Webster Yankees of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.

Gleason (Class of 1997) starred for MCC’s soccer, lacrosse, and tennis teams.  He was a first team All-Region goalkeeper in 1996, registering a .24 Goals Against Average.  He was also an All-Region lacrosse player and lost just one tennis match in 1997.
