Best Technology Practices for Working from Home

Technology Services is here to support you as you work remotely. The Employee Technology Support Center is open from 8:45am to 4:45pm Monday through Friday. You can submit a ticket from myMCC > Employees > Technology Help > Technology Service Support & Requests > Create or View Technology Support Requests or call and leave a voicemail at 292-TECH (8324) option 3 for Employees, and then option 3 again to leave a message. Please be sure to leave a personal phone number that you can be reached at if leaving a voicemail.

Here are some tips from PC & Network Support staff to help you connect with fewer issues:

  • use an ethernet cord if possible, or
  • move as close to your router as possible
  • keep up with updates on both at home and remote PC when prompted
  • disconnect from VPN at the end of the day
  • restart your laptop/desktop at home daily
  • Audio problems?
    • Try restarting your laptop/desktop at home.
    • Be sure you are not remoting in!
    • If you are using wireless/Bluetooth headphones - switch to wired headphones. (The headphones that came with your phone will often fit in the headphone jack on your computer or borrow your children's set that came with their gaming system.)
