Diane L. Shoger to Lead MCC Foundation

Diane L. Shoger has been appointed interim executive director of the Monroe Community College Foundation effective September 1. Shoger takes on the role with the departure of MCC Foundation President Brenda Babitz who announced her plan to pursue new opportunities after 18 years at the helm.

“Under Brenda Babitz’s leadership, the MCC Foundation reached new levels and became a model for college foundations across the country,” said MCC Interim President Larry Tyree. “The college is confident that Diane Shoger will continue to effectively engage community leaders and philanthropists to support student success at MCC.”

“The opportunity to advance the mission and impact of philanthropy at Monroe Community College is an exciting challenge,” said Shoger who joined the foundation in 1999 as its director of development and major gifts and went on to lead two capital campaigns that raised over $17 million for the college. “The MCC Foundation board is made up of dedicated business and community leaders. With their support, the college’s leadership and our talented team of professionals at the foundation, we will continue to build on the successes realized during Brenda’s tenure,” she said.

Prior to MCC, Shoger served 13 years with the Special Olympics New York, first as vice president and then chief operating officer. She has extensive experience in nonprofit management, including volunteer and board management, programming and implementation of successful donor cultivation, solicitation and fundraising events.

Shoger received a M.S. degree in educational administration foundations and a B.S. in special education from Illinois State University.
