ADV-280 Advising as Teaching Forum

It's not too late to attend. Please contact Pam Donofrio at x2299 or pdonofrio@monroecc.edu to register.

We are educators. We are mentors. We are exemplars. We are teachers and advisors.  The myriad of connections between the roles of teaching and advising and how these connections play out in specific disciplines will be the focus of a forum sponsored by Academic Advisement (Student Services) and the Teaching and Creativity Center (Academic Services).

Please join us on February 26, from 3:30- 5:00 in 12-109.  Listen to colleagues from varied disciplines and enjoy an opportunity to share your insights about the connections between these important roles we share.

Peter Collinge, Mathematics; Kathy O’Shea, English/Philosophy; John Wadach,
Physics and Engineering Science; Wanda Willard, Psychology; Faculty Panel

This workshop is designed to identify and build on parallel characteristics of effective teaching and advising.  Faculty should be encouraged to view advising as an extension of teaching.  This presentation and panel discussion will make specific suggestions about applying teaching skills in the advisement experience.
