Media Tour Healthy Hero Summer Camp

On July 21, local news reporters toured the Healthy Hero Summer Camp at MCC to report on the positive impact the camp is having on Rochester City School District (RCSD) students. The camp helps kids stay active over the summer and retain what they learned during the school year. Now in its second year, the camp serves 450 children and is made possible by the Greater Rochester Health Foundation in partnership with MCC, the MCC Foundation and the RCSD.

Participants in last year’s camp benefited from increased personal endurance and physical strength scores as well as consistent or improved math and literacy scores. Nearly 45 percent of campers returned for the second year. This year’s camp runs until August 7.

Some of the news clips feature interviews with Professor and Camp Director Elizabeth Kelly (Health & Physical Education).
