Optical Systems Technology Program Graduates Achieve 100% Job Offers

On June 6 and 7, 13WHAM and WHEC covered the growth and achievements of MCC’s Optical Systems Technology program under the leadership of Dr. Alexis Vogt (Engineering Technologies). The segments highlighted how 100 percent of recent program graduates received job offers before graduation and how MCC helps fill the large demand for skilled optics technicians locally and nationally. Approximately 100 students are currently enrolled in the program. MCC graduated 43 students and awarded 21 degrees and 23 certificates in optical systems technology in 2021-22 -- the most in the program’s 51-year history.

On June 13, news about the program graduates' job offers was included in WXXI News' daily business report. Radio broadcaster Randy Gorbman interviewed Dr. Vogt about the graduates' employment success:

WXXI Business Report: MCC optics program generates jobs for new graduates

American Center for Optics Manufacturing (Americom) helped secure the media coverage, positioning MCC’s program as a national model.

Our thanks to Dr. Vogt and current student Jaiden Minott for participating in interviews and sharing their excitement about the opportunities available to students through the Optical Systems Technology program.
