Professors Jann Avery & Tracy Wyant Named to Rochester Early College International High School Planning Team.

Rochester Early College International High School is a new school in the Rochester City School District (RCSD), part of the Smart Scholars initiative through SUNY. MCC, RCSD and St. John Fisher College are partners in this initiative. The RECIHS School Based Planning Team is made up of community partners, parents, teachers, students and school administrators. Jannette Avery, Associate Professor, Mathematics, and Tracy Wyant, Assistant Professor, Education, are serving as two of the community partners. In their roles, they advise the board on issues pertaining to college readiness. As a result of Tracy and Jann's involvement on the team, MCC Education students will serve as tutors in mathematics for the STAR after-school program as well as observing and participating in each of the classrooms, fulfilling a fieldwork requirement of 60 hours with a Service Leaning component of 20 hours.
