New Systems Requiring MultiFactor Authentication Starting Today

The rollout of MultiFactor Authentication continues. Starting today, if you have not yet enrolled, you will be prompted to enroll in MFA when you attempt to sign in to:

  • Banner (including Banner Admin Pages - Production, Banner Workflow, Banner Communicator)
  • SUNY Federation:  Anytime you see a blue screen with SUNY Secure Sign On in the top left and then you select Monroe from the drop-down for Campus. This includes resources such as Cybersecurity Awareness Training.

If you have not already enrolled and don't want to be forced to do it at the time of your next log in, go to office.com and sign in with your MCC network account (User ID and password).  From there, follow the on-screen steps to enroll (you will see an MCC-branded page to enter your password).

You only have to enroll in MFA once. As additional systems require MFA, you will automatically receive the MFA prompt when you sign in with your User ID and Password.

Need a hand?

  • As always, you can call the Employee Technology Support Center at 292-TECH (8324), option 3.

What will happen when I am prompted to enroll in MFA when I try to log in?

  • When prompted to enroll, you will be presented with options including authentication phone (call or text), office phone or mobile app. The recommended option is to select mobile app and the Microsoft Authenticator app (with notifications) on your mobile device, because that will provide the easiest and most secure method for MFA confirmation when you sign onto MCC systems.

  • MFA combines (1) something you know, like your password, with (2) something you have, like a phone or iPad or other tablet; so be sure to register with something that you will have with you when you are logging in.

How do I use MFA once I am enrolled?

  • Once enrolled in the Microsoft Authenticator app and notifications, when you sign into an application requiring MFA, you will get an app notification on your mobile device to click to “approve” access. (You will have to unlock your phone screen to do this.) If you chose text, then you will receive a text with a 6-digit number that you will enter in the prompt box on your screen. It's that simple.
