Walk for Water, Help People in the Sudan this Weekend

Student leaders of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project will host a Walk for Water fundraiser to support the drilling of a fresh-water well in Southern Sudan this Saturday, March 14, at noon in the PAC Center. The walk will encompass three miles around the PAC Center’s indoor track. Please check out the attached brochure for more information. A $35 per person donation is suggested.

All proceeds will be donated directly to Water for Sudan, Inc. a nonprofit organization led by MCC alumnus Salva Dut. Since 2005, student leaders have raised $9,000 for Water for Sudan (https://www.waterforsudan.org).

The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project is MCC’s unique organization for telling the stories of the Holocaust and other genocides while transforming individuals to become advocates for human rights.

The mission of Water for Sudan, Inc. is to drill wells in Southern Sudanese villages so that people have access to clean water, free from any parasite infestation. Dut and his team have built 29 wells to date. His goal is to have built 40 wells by the end of the year with the help of HGHRP and others.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register by contacting Blum at 585.354.5330 or <"mailto:jblum018@student.monroecc.edu"> or register at the door. Check in for the Walk for Water begins at noon. Walk-ins are welcome.
