Accepting Applications for Leaves for Professional Development for the Benefit of the College- Reminder!

The Faculty Senate is now soliciting applications for Leave for Professional Advancement for the Benefit of the College for the 2015/2016 academic year. It is important to note that a Leave is not a Sabbatical and must demonstrate a tangible need to the College.

As stated in Article 13:
Leaves are granted for study, formal education, research, writing or other experiences of professional value. Leaves for professional advancement may be granted for a period of one year at rates not to exceed one-half salary, or for periods of one-half year at rates not to exceed full salary. These leaves are made available each year to members of the faculty and non-teaching professionals. The objective of such leave is to increase each person’s value to the College in relation to the annual College goals and thereby improve and enrich its program.

Eligibility
Members of the faculty/non-teaching faculty who have previously completed at least six years of service at the College, or have completed at least six years of service within the College since the date of return for a previous Leave, are eligible.

Nomination Deadline
Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, March 4th, 2016.

Applicants will also meet with the Committee and make a brief presentation (ten minutes) regarding their proposal.

More information regarding eligibility, criteria for the award and the application process can be found at the Faculty Senate Website: https://web.monroecc.edu/FacultySenate/profleaves, and Article 13 of the Faculty contract.
