Workshop and keynote presenter Gary R. Howard is founder and president of the REACH Center for Multicultural Education <www.reachctr.org>. He has 35 years of experience in diversity leadership and training.
He is a frequent keynote speaker at regional and national conferences and has written numerous articles on race, justice and multicultural issues. His most recent book, “We Can’t Teach What We Don’t Know,” is considered a groundbreaking work examining issues of privilege, power and the role of white leaders and educators in a multicultural society.
He earned his master’s degree from Western Washington University and bachelor’s from Yale University, and serves as an adjunct professor at both Western and Seattle University.
The event is sponsored by MCC’s Diversity Council. The Alice Holloway Young, Ed.D. Diversity Series recognizes the pioneering spirit and outstanding leadership of Dr. Young, a leading Rochester educator, and founding trustee and board chair emerita of Monroe Community College.
