Scholarship Honors Anne Mulcahy

The philanthropy and leadership of Xerox Corporation Chairman and CEO Anne Mulcahy will be honored through an endowed scholarship administered by the Monroe Community College Foundation. The Anne Mulcahy Endowed Scholarship was launched at the MCC Foundation’s 17th annual Salute to Excellence dinner held in December with contributions from tribute committee members who wanted to recognize Mulcahy’s support of public higher education.

Nearly 600 business and community leaders attended the dinner where MCC Foundation representatives presented Mulcahy with the Salute to Excellence award in recognition of her philanthropy and continued partnership with Monroe Community College.

Ursula Burns, senior vice president, and president, Business Group Operations, Xerox, chaired the committee. Committee members included: Matthew Augustine, Eltrex; Lloyd Bean, Xerox (retired); Joe Cahalan, The Xerox Foundation; Timothy Coleman, The Blackstone Group; The DiMarco Group; R. Thomas Flynn, Monroe Community College; Emerson U. Fullwood, Xerox Corporation; Richard J. Harrington, The Thomson Corporation; Jonathan J. Judge, Paychex; Michael G. Kane, Democrat and Chronicle; Edward W. Kay, Jr., PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Steve McCluski, Bausch & Lomb; Robert Sands, Constellation Brands; Dutch and Jane Summers, Jasco Tools, Inc.; Danny Wegman, Wegmans; Maggie Wilderotter, Citizens Communications; and Christine J. Wilson.

“Honoring Anne Mulcahy through an endowed scholarship in her name complements her valued partnership and support of Monroe Community College by putting a college education within reach for future students,” said MCC Foundation President Brenda Babitz.

The first Anne Mulcahy Endowed Scholarship will be awarded in spring 2008. The scholarship will support high achieving incoming students (ranked among the top 5 percentile of their graduating class) who are pursuing careers that satisfy pressing community needs (e.g., science, mathematics, engineering science and technology, law and criminal justice, community service and pre-professional programs).
