Last fall, the Military Advocacy Program (MAP) established a new community partnership with Compeer Rochester regarding a new vet-to-vet peer support program, and we are now putting out the first official call for volunteers!
All MCC faculty and staff members who are serving, or who have served, in the United States Military – active duty, Reserve or Guard – are enthusiastically encouraged to participate and provide the necessary camaraderie and support our military students need. No one understands a vet like a fellow vet, and that unique bond provides a level of comfort and stability nothing else can.
The program’s Director, Mike Buckpitt, will be happy to meet with those faculty/staff members who are interested in lending their efforts, and provide detailed information regarding time commitments, levels of participation, and general expectations for the program.
