Noon to 1 pm
Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe B)
Book signing to follow presentation.

In 1987, when Alephonsion was seven years old, his village in Southern Sudan was attacked by government troops. To avoid capture, he ran into the night with many other young boys. Without food, water, shoes or parents, he crossed a 1000 miles of lion and crocodile infested territory. After five years of fleeing war, starvation, and wild animals, he reached Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya and began his education.”

Since arriving in the United States, Alephonsion has spoken to colleges across the country about his life and he has raised money for local MCC alumnus, Salva Dut, to drill water wells in his home village.  He enjoys music and acting, and he played a small role in the movie, “Master and Commander.”

This event is sponsored by The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project, MCC’s Liberal Arts Division and the English and Philosophy Department.
