Pat On the Back

Those of us at the Damon City Campus already know how extraordinary this learning environment is—but for those of you who need further proof, consider this!

Wednesday, September 26, 2012, was not the best of days for me—among other things that day, a long-time family friend unexpectedly passed away—so even though I made every attempt to stay the course, my mind was sometimes elsewhere as was the case when I left Room 5124 at 2:20 p.m..  Anxious to attend to end-of-class pragmatics, including guiding students to various offices and moving on to my 2:30 class, I hadn’t noticed my purse was not with me—however at the end of my last class of the day I sought to pack up shop.  I reached for my purse . . . and it wasn’t there. I checked Room 5124 . . and it wasn’t there. A check with Officer Mike in 5th Floor security also turned up empty. My only concern:  my husband was golfing in a tournament and I had no idea when I would be able to get home.

I considered the purse lost to me forever—but not so!  Znovia Nelson, a DCC student, found my purse and brought it to our department secretary for safe-keeping.  I am happy to report that the entire contents of the purse were intact!  What an absolute blessing for me and what a wonderful testimonial about the integrity of our downtown campus and our students!  I am privileged to represent the College, and I am fortunate to teach in such a wonderful learning environment.  If you see Znovia, please give her a well-deserved pat on the back.
