MCC Daily Tribune

Reminder - RSVP Due by January 17th for Participation in DEI and Curricular Considerations Part 2

On December 7th, I convened a group of faculty, staff, and administrators to begin a dialogue on centralizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within our collective approach to institutional learning outcomes, curriculum, and pedagogy. Participants explored an array of DEI-related topics, from the distinct challenges faced by traditionally underserved and underrepresented student populations to best practices in equity-minded teaching and assessment. This was but the first step in an ongoing initiative to ensure that our students are provided with a high-quality educational experience that reflect the DEI values to which Monroe Community College aspires. I was pleased to be joined by about 40 faculty and staff this month but want to create another opportunity to broaden the conversation. To this end, I invite any and all members of the MCC community with an interest in achieving this goal to attend our second meeting, to take place on January 20th, 2021 from 1pm – 3pm.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Maureen Karlnoski (mkarlnoski@monroecc.edu) by January 17th. Moreover, if you would like to participate in this project but are unable to attend the January 20th meeting, please let Maureen know, so we can keep you apprised of important developments and invite you to future convenings.
