MCC's Efforts in Academic Program Review, Online Learning Highlighted in RBJ

The Jan. 31 issue of the Rochester Business Journal includes articles on MCC's efforts in online learning and in the periodic reviews of academic programs.

-- "Colleges find online learning often more engaging for students" (Page 10). Dr. Terry Keys, associate vice president of instructional services, was interviewed about MCC's role in the new SUNY Online initiative, online learning opportunities, and various support services MCC offers to students and to faculty delivering online courses.

MCC offered 158 fully online courses and 681 face-to-face courses in the fall 2019 semester.

"We're getting more SUNY students through a different funnel with a slightly different support system around them," Dr. Keys said in the article.

-- "Colleges take pains to make sure academic programs are up-to-date" (Page 11). Dr. Todd Oldham, vice president of economic and workforce development and career technical education, discussed how MCC determines what academic programs to add, modify or discontinue as workforce dynamics change.

Some of the areas MCC is looking to expand in response to labor market demand include health care and information technology.
