Learn about a Student Services office & help contribute to its continual improvement

Student Services is looking for volunteers to serve on 2020 CAS self-assessment teams. This is a great opportunity to learn about a Student Services office and help contribute to our continual improvement in offering services that combine learning and student life.

Student Services uses the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) self-assessment guides (SAGs) to assess each office in the division on a three-year rotation. Assessment teams typically meet for one hour each week, February - May to review the SAG, complete criterion measures, highlight strengths, and make recommendations for future improvement.

Final reports are shared with the director of the department, associate vice presidents, and the vice president of Student Services. Recommendations are taken into consideration to inform future goals in Compliance Assist and in the creation of a post-assessment action plan. A timeline of the process is attached.

2020 Student Services CAS Self-Assessment Expected Outcomes:

  • Facilitate a culture of continuous improvement and sustained excellence
  • Support the Monroe Community College Mission and Strategic Plan
  • Support Middle States Accreditation
  • Build College-wide understanding of the work being done in Student Services

2020 CAS Self-Assessment Cycle:

  • Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
  • Health Services
  • Housing and Residence Life
  • Student Services Downtown
  • Testing Services

Please contact Ryan Messenger rmessenger@monroecc.edu (x2193) to learn more about the process or to volunteer to participate on one of the self-assessment teams.
