Windows Updates

New and Improved

Educational Technology Services (ETS) has made an enhancement to our Windows Update processes to help ensure that all college PCs are being consistently updated with the latest security patches from Microsoft.

Campus computers will now automatically receive important Windows Updates. During the initial roll-out of this service during the summer, you may notice updates being frequently applied as we bring all machines to a state of full compliance.

What does this mean to you?

Updates will now be downloaded to your computer, and scheduled to install overnight.  If your PC is turned on but logged out, updates will automatically be installed and the machine will be rebooted during this overnight period.  If your PC is on and logged in (locked), the updates will be installed overnight, and you will be prompted to restart the next day, so that no important data would potentially be lost.  Any machines that are turned off will automatically update once they are brought back online.

During the initial roll-out process, many campus computers will require several batches of updates to be downloaded and installed, this process is critical to ensure that all of our machines are fully patched and as secure as possible.  We appreciate your patience during this important initiative.
