The Writing Center College Hour Workshop Series Presents "Getting Started"

You are invited to attend “Getting Started” on February 6, 2013 from 12:00 noon – 12:50 p.m.  This workshop will be offered at both the Brighton and Damon City campuses.

It happens all the time.  The professor assigns a paper, and you panic.  Now what?  Many students procrastinate because they’re not sure what to do or where to start.  Others start right away and then get stuck.  What’s a good first step?  What’s a good first line?  What components make an effective introduction?  What is the thesis statement, and is it really necessary?  This 50-minute workshop will provide students with strategies for addressing these important writing concerns.  Knowing what to do will build your confidence, so next time writing is assigned, you’ll be getting started on that paper right away!
