New Rochester AmeriCorps Members Join the Upward Bound Team

Two new Rochester AmeriCorps members, Jeneé Skinner and Daniel Muhammed, have joined the Upward Bound Team, both with deep roots in the Rochester City School District. Daniel Muhammed, an alumnus of World of Inquiry, now serves at the school where Sheila Webster, the current principle of World of Inquiry, taught his kindergarten class. Webster quickly recognized Daniel as he introduced himself to her as her former student, greeting him with a warm hug and welcome to the school. “It’s incredible to be a part of something coming full-circle,” Daniel remarked on his first day in the school. “I’ve been through what they’re going through in this school, so I’m able to relate to these students on a deep level and support them better through that.”

Jeneé Skinner, the other new member to the team, graduated from School of the Arts and now serves at Wilson High School. Jeneé has bonded quickly with Wilson students and has enjoyed helping the seniors think through their upcoming college decisions.

Jeneé and Daniel have come on board with returning Rochester AmeriCorps members Lindsay Lupiani and Paul Stack, both who have committed to a second year of serving in the program. Lindsay will serve at Early College this year, while Paul will serve at Northeast College Prep. Here’s to a great year with your new AmeriCorps team!
