HSMI to receive $61K grant from FEMA

The Homeland Security Management Institute was recently awarded an additional $61,000 to continue work in citizen preparedness. Monroe Community College is one of the five lead colleges that developed the curriculum for the FEMA-entitled Community College Citizen Preparedness Program and was responsible for rolling out the program to an additional 120 community colleges in the past three years.

Monroe Community College is only one of two community colleges in the nation to receive additional funding to carry out our work with Citizen Preparedness.  Some of the additional dollars are for MCC to host a Train-the-Trainer Workshop in Portland, Maine in April 2013 and hold a series of webinars in conjunction with FEMA to expand the program.
