Brightspace Brown Bag and Sandbox!

Please save the date for the upcoming Brightspace Brown Bag session on Wednesday, December 1st from 12 to 12:50 pm!  

This session will be hosted by the Virtual Campus Team through Zoom and will be recorded and posted on MCC's LMS Migration to Brightspace website. This session will be informal, so please feel free to bring your lunch and “virtually” hang out with our team to get your questions answered about our migration to Brightspace. This session is open to the college community. Please find the Zoom details attached.  

During our Brown Bag session, we will share updates from SUNY about our migration to Brightspace, provide our experiences from the summer institute experimenting with some of the tools, share thoughts about training, share initial resources to prepare you for migration, and leave time for your questions.  

Brightspace Demo 

SUNY and D2L hosted two informational sessions (10/28 and 11/5) on an Introduction to D2L’s Brightspace which was attended by over 1000 participants across SUNY campuses. The recording for this event can be found at: https://dle.suny.edu/informational-webinars/. You will need to sign in using your MCC credentials to view. We highly recommend watching this from around the 18-minute mark in the video to get an idea of the functionality of Brightspace. Phil from D2L does an excellent job of highlighting some of the exciting features!  

SUNY Brightspace Sandbox  

At this time, SUNY has made a sandbox space available to the community. You can begin exploring Brightspace at your leisure.  You may even choose to transfer an existing course from Blackboard to your empty Brightspace course shell. Continuous exposure to the tool will make you more comfortable. 

Please understand that there are some limitations within this sandbox space, and we cannot test any integrations to third-party tools at this time. This is only a temporary sandbox. Please refer to the attached instructions to access the sandbox. If you have created a previous demo account in D2L, this will be a similar look and feel, although you will be limited to the number of courses you have access to. Our favorite feature of this sandbox is that you can directly contact D2L with questions through the sandbox help tab and they will respond to your request!
