MCC's Nursing Degree Program Accredited Through 2024

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has granted continuing accreditation to MCC’s associate in applied science nursing degree program <https://www.monroecc.edu/academics/majors-programs/health-sciences/nursing-associate-of-applied-science/>  through 2024. The continuing accreditation followed the submission of a self-study report and an ACEN site visit in March 2016. We hope you will join the Department of Nursing in celebrating this achievement.

Accreditation is based on meeting six standards that promote student learning and program outcomes. Standards include mission and administrative capacity, faculty and staff, students (policies and services that support student achievement), curriculum, resources and outcomes. MCC complies with all six standards.

Continuous, systematic review of ACEN accreditation standards is key to the continued success of MCC’s nursing program. Our nursing faculty are committed to our students and the profession of nursing. We strive to provide the services and support students need to successfully complete the program and begin a rewarding career as a registered professional nurse.

Since its inception in 1962, MCC’s nursing program prepares graduates to enter the nursing profession as a registered professional nurse (RN). An average of 130 nursing students graduate from MCC each year. In 2015 (the most recent annual data available), MCC nursing program graduates achieved a 92 percent pass rate on the national licensing exam. Job placement, student satisfaction and employer satisfaction rates are consistently 90 percent and higher.

About the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing <https://www.acenursing.org/>

The ACEN supports the interests of nursing education, nursing practice, and the public by the functions of accreditation. Accreditation is a voluntary, peer-review, self-regulatory process by which non-governmental associations recognize educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality.
