February COVID Response Update: Booster Clinics, Transition to Rapid Testing, Masks Required

  1. On the Brighton Campus, take advantage of a free vaccination and booster clinic today in the Theatre Lobby, Tim and Robin Wentworth Arts Building (Bldg. 4). Walk-ins are welcomed between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. or schedule an appointment. This clinic is offered for your convenience in partnership with Monroe County.
  2. Monroe County’s mass vaccination site on the Downtown Campus also offers free vaccinations and boosters. Walk-ins are welcomed or schedule an appointment.
  3. COVID-19 boosters are required for eligible students who engage in person. Eligible students must upload an image of their vaccination card to the Student Health Services Portal.
    • Individuals are eligible for a booster six months after the second Moderna or Pfizer dose or two months after a Johnson & Johnson dose.
    • Employees are encouraged, but not required, to verify vaccination and boosters with Human Resources.
  4. Continue to wear a well-fitting mask (covering nose and mouth) inside MCC buildings—regardless of vaccination status—until further notice. Yesterday, Gov. Hochul reinforced that, “Masks remain a critical tool to fight the spread of COVID-19.”
  5. Next Monday, February 14, COVID-19 testing at MCC will transition from pooled tests to rapid tests.
    • Students who engage in person and have a vaccination exemption for medical or religious reasons are required to test each week they are on campus.
    • Employees who have not verified vaccination with Human Resources are required to test each week they are on campus.
  6. MCC COVID-19 testing sessions will be offered on Mondays from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The testing center entrance is the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130).
  7. Do not test at the NYS Community Testing site in the Gilman Lounge (3-114) as MCC will not automatically receive those results.
  8. MCC COVID-19 surveillance testing is underway. As part of MCC’s testing plan to respond quickly to potential outbreaks, MCC Public Safety will invite (via email) individual departments and groups to participate in rapid testing each week. Departments and groups invited to test will also be identified in weekly MCC Daily Tribune “COVID-19 Case Update” articles.
  9. Winter Recess begins on Sunday, February 20. MCC will be open, but no classes will be held February 20-25. There will be one testing session on Monday, February 21 from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
