Two Fulbright Visiting Scholars to Speak at MCC!


The office of Global Education and International Services is pleased to invite the campus community to hear from two Fulbright Visiting Scholars!

Dr. Alejandro Anaya Muñoz is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Minnesota’s Human Rights Program. The focus of his work is human rights and indigenous peoples in Mexico, for which he was awarded a Fulbright grant for 2015-2016. 

Dr. Muñoz will be at MCC** on Monday, March 7th through Tuesday, March 8th.  See below for details on the events.

Open Campus Lecture:  "Human Rights Crisis in Mexico: Challenges for Compliance"

Lecture description:  The severe violation of human rights is not new to Mexico. However, the level of violence and abuse has escalated to unprecedented levels in the past few years. The country is experiencing a human rights crisis. The challenges posed by the crisis are massive and the opportunities for human rights improvement are difficult to find.

**Dr. Muñoz’s lecture is sponsored in collaboration with Fulbright’s Outreach Lecturing Fund (OLF).  If you are interested in having your department bring a Fulbright Visiting Scholar to campus, please contact Gale Lynch for more information.  The OLF is a wonderful opportunity to introduce MCC students to world class scholars!

Mr. DK Wu is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar from Taiwan and is spending his time in the United States traveling to 22 states to visit 60+ community colleges to conduct research on innovative approaches to international education. 

Mr. Wu will be on campus Tuesday, March 22nd.  See below for details of his talks.

Talk description:  Learn about an innovative model aimed to improve international education for American community colleges in the areas of campus internationalization, study abroad, and curriculum internationalization.

Talk title:  “Taiwan, your partner to China”
Tuesday, March 22nd

Flynn Campus Center, Meeting Room 3-115
Talk description:  Learn about the how 35 years of economic reform in China have impacted the future perspective of China and why Taiwan in the perfect partner to work with in terms of study abroad and other opportunities in China.  Also learn about Taiwan education and scholarship opportunities.   Encourage your students to attend!
